you know the thing where your're very sleepy, nearly drifting off, and you hear talking or music or some other sound, but the moment you actually realise its there, it abruptly stops, because you were just hallucinating it out of sleepiness

we kinda love that. its like our brain playing a prank on us.

Teh way my brain prankfs me most often irt dreams is making me dream I just did smthn I meant to do at teh morning just befur I woke up.

It's always smthn minor like checking a notification or getting teh daily thing in a phone game, buf it does happen thaf I will dream of checking my "dream mind browser" fur social media notifications or e-mails and then hav to remember thaf those don't count, hehe

This is actually, funnily, linked to dissociative disorders, imagining/daydreaming something and not remembering if you actually did it or if you only imagined it. We get that sometimes and it's so weird. We'll think we said something when we only just imagined saying it.

we have this alot and for us we think it's an adhd thing, imagining doing some inane task or telling someone something, and then thinking we actually did it.

relatedly, we often accidentally tell people something twice or ask the same question twice, sometimes because we had wrongly assumed we only imagined telling the person, and other sometimes because our memory is fucked, and we often just legitimately forget the entire interaction within minutes and then think it hadn't happened yet

this happens even in text chats. sometimes we will send someone a message, have a conversation with them that moves the message out of the screen, and then after a few hours send them basically the exact same message only to feel very silly when we page up and see that we already had that conversation
