the fact that losing internet makes cohost pages instantly blank out, yeeting any post you were writing, makes us so paranoid now

we are now saving the draft every 15 seconds compulsively because we don't want the page to just randomly blank out and lose our post

I've seen people on other websites mention using a text editor to write long posts, and then copying it over to the post box when you're done

yeah this is an obvious attempt but it doesn't work for us for reasons, saving as draft works well enough

i've lost a few posts in my time (various sites) and i try to remind myself to ctrl-A / ctrl-C every so often to take snapshots of what i'm writing. (i use a third-party clipboard manager software so i can access a limited copy/paste history when i want to.)

We used to do this too, and it was awesome, but at some point the database corrupted and we suddenly lost everything we had copied for over 5 years before we were finally able to recover it this year. :/

omg!

i think i have mine set to just 15 history items. i still worry about how it's bad for security (can let passwords persist, etc.) but the convenience for my daily work is too great to forego.

Oh it's not that we lost 5 years of history. We lost around 2 or 3 years of history. Then didn't get any of it back for over 5 years.

Pretty sure the loss of this database is also how our system started ;-;
