Kamagami
@Kamagami

Sorry, it just has multiple things going on that probably means it's not gonna be able to give much more than headers; cohesive thoughts be damned. Honestly, it's just more excited to write about our names and stuff, so just bear with it

Seth

It's gonna start off with Seth, which is pretty simple. His name was derived from our alias "Sythegod", which he also uses to this day since it has its own. It's our oldest alias to date, and was made back in... Maybe 2009-2011? Our first ever use of it was to play RuneScape with our brother, whose alias at the time was Chromegod101; ours was Sythegod101, in parallel to his. It seemed to stick, but we did hate the numbers, and also dropping the "C" made it more unique, and therefore lessened the possibility of running into the dreaded "username is already taken"

As it discussed in a previous post, it eventually began to identify with the alias -- in fact, now that it thinks back to that period, it was after Seth already existed; maybe it was some or completely him -- which eventually resulted in its evolution to a name. Funnily, it always liked how "Seth" and "Sebastian" always have such different connotations of formality. It enjoyed it since it resulted in both a formal and a simple name -- especially with both being distinct -- and Seth likes it because he himself is more formal. The unique property of the nickname allows him to enjoy it a little more than "Seb", which is reserved for those close to him, and seldom used

Kam

Its name stems from the same alias as Seth's, in a way. It was some silly thing where it found itself identifying with "Kat" more, since it was commonly referred to as that. How it adapted the alias was through some loose translation of it to Japanese, and then some changes after the fact, resulting in what it has now: "Kamagami". It could leave it at that, and it would be obvious where its name came from, but the decision wasn't quite as long of a jump as that

People mostly called it "Kama", since it lent itself to being spoken quickly, and it wasn't as nearly hard to pronounce for some (It got a lot of "Kamigami"s "Kaahmaahgaahmi"s [That's the only way it could think to represent it in text; don't @ it], and others). Over time, with other friends, people started to refer to it a little more affectionately, or cut the name even shorter, resulting in "Kam" and "Kamy". You have no idea how much it identifies with the simple of of simply typing those and looking at them, thinking about all of this. However, with that, it made the formal decision to be itself, and it's never saw itself in a more personal light

Kass

Kass is a little hard for it to dissect, it thinks. Separate from "Sythegod" and "Kamagami", we actually had one other set of aliases that we used. It started with a Webkinz we got from a clinic -- he was a cat, by the way -- who we named "Kushiel". We have no clue where we got the name; we think the first half was just off the top of our head, and we've always passively like "-iel"; it just sounds pretty. Also, this was way before it was plural; still in its childhood.

Over time the alias developed somewhat, and it became "Kassiel", though again we're not sure what inspired the change. Once Kass decided to adopt the name "Kastiel" though, that change was primarily because that's a more widely recognized name. We're not overly particular about having normative names or anything, but even a little presence in history or society makes it feel a little more "real" to us

Kuro

Kuro was the first of us to have a name that at least Americans would see as "less normal". It's by no degree anormal, but it thinks it was important because we've been surrounded by conservative people for a lot of our life because of one side of our relatives

To be honest, it's pretty sure the main reason for his choice of name is because of the Japanese romaji for "black", plain as that. He was the first of us to be a solid color, too, so that was probably significant. Well, okay, the first of us to decide he was a solid color; Kain existed before him, but he didn't figure out his identity first

An ancillary reason for choosing the name is a cat by the same name from an anime. Bonus points if anyone can guess which one it's referring to

Kain

Kain's name kind of had a similar origin to Kuro's and its, mostly being derived from a Japanese word, but it would say with far more alterations. It believes one way to say "flame" in Japanese is "kaen" (Kai-en), which was the primary inspiration because of his personality. We went with the pronunciation "cane" because it's what English speakers will interpret at a glance, especially with the spelling. The spelling is to reinforce that, as well as to allow the nickname "Kai", which he not only likes, but also calls back to the originating word

Kal

It's not exactly sure why Kallen chose his name, but it knows we've seen it a few times before used by other people. We believe it was simply because it sounded like just the right kind of firm for him, while still sounding non-threatening, if that makes sense. We don't really know of anything else that went into it

Liaison

Li is a bit of a special one, once again being derived from a word, but this time one English speakers might recognize, given its occasional use as borrowed from French. If you don't know what the literal translation is, it's "bond". That was personally chosen by it before he was a part of us; when he was a character in writing

It was a symbolic choice at the time, meant to of course represent the bond between us, as well as his creator: how he quickly grew close to it in the story, how he was a representation of it, and the connection he shared with his creator, as well as the one he bridged with it respectively

He still holds on to each of those interpretations closely, and is the only one of us who was named by someone other than themselves. It's actually a little odd to know that; it never thought about it before :P
