One cool emergent story element of Magic: the Gathering's rules is how aritificial constructs share metaphysical properties with what they represent. For example, Arcbound Slasher is a cat. Effects like Path of Ancestry show that such trifling differences as being a soulless automaton don't break the inherent connection between Arcbound Slasher and other cats.
