Someone at the writing group said they really wanted to read1 more memoir. And I say to myself, buddy, you really could not handle our memoir.

This is the same person that saw my character was trans and was struggling with how they felt not matching what was in the mirror and said "I've never had this issue, so I don't know how to relate to this character, so I don't know what to say for a critique. Sorry." Can you imagine how not able to relate to a character they would be if said character had a bunch of fucking dragons living inside of their head.

  1. I guess everyone else is just "too good" at fiction writing, which makes them feel bad about their own fiction? And they don't want to bring in fiction anymore, only their memoir stuff. So, somehow, their nonfiction would magically be better. Presumably better than everyone else's, I think they're hoping? But being a good/bad writer kinda transcends the subject matter. I don't think their plan is very well thought out
