So um.
Therian/otherkin? Is like, Therian real animals and otherkin is like, fantasy stuff, or do I have that backwards?
Which symbols are which?
Can you be a therian if you just feel like you'd be more comfortable as another species', is having species dysphoria enough? Or is it like, considered rude to say yur therian unless you have some other classification?

in reply to @Scribble-Sheep's post:

Therian is animals, which includes fantasy/mythical/fictional animals. Some people will try to gatekeep it, but even the earliest communities had, for example, phoenices. It's also a clipped version of therianthrope, which sure as hell isn't a real Earth animal. Otherkin is not human, which includes therians, but also stuff like elves, demons, and robots.

ΘΔ is a therian symbol, although I'm fairly sure we've seen some non-therian otherkin use it too. The heptagram (seven-pointed star) and the purple-white-green flag are both otherkin sumbols.

I feel you can. It's like how you can realise you're not cis, without having a specific trans identity you've found that calls to you. It's kinda weird to assume everyone works out eveything in one go.
