While I'm conscious of the fact that this isn't a 1-for-1 Twitter replacement (And indeed, I don't want it to be; one aspect of the Twitterpocalypse is that I'm realizing that "A perfect Twitter replacement" would actually be a net negative for me), I would like to continue doing some of the things I did on Twitter here. Mainly, besides promoting my own streams (The next one will be this weekend sometime, probably), I'd like to make brief posts about the streams I happen to be watching at a particular time. Is that, like, "a thing" here on Cohost? Is "hey check out this cool off-Cohost thing!" a type of post people make?

I kind of wonder the same thing.

My first impression is that people don't linger around on this site, so my guess is if I posted I was doing something, people wouldn't even see it until it was over. Maybe that would change when followers and activities grow on cohost, but that's just the vibe I get if I were to try that.

At the end of the day, it doesn't hurt to give it a try and see what happens, and every person's experience is going to be different.

Yeah, that was my impression, too. I feel like there are almost two separate answers to the question right now.

In relation to the "self-promotion" question, cynically, that would seem like a doomed endeavor on Cohost for the moment. While you can obviously search for people/topics you aren't following, Cohost isn't really design to facilitate that. Or, put another way, anyone following me here is currently likely to also be on Discord (Either my erver or one of the numerous other servers I'm on) and would see the "Going live!" message there, not here.

For promoting other people, it may work a little better, and I suppose it doesn't hurt to try either in any case.
