i think my favorite thing to do in fallout 4 weapons-wise is to use a bunch of different laser weapons that all take microfusion cells (which, thanks to mods, i can recharge, so theyre effectively infinite) i swap between for different purposes
so for example i've got:
- laser musket ive modified into basically a high-end sniper weapon, deals enough damage to cripple body parts on big strong enemies with a single shot and just obliterate raiders etc but has a long reload time due to having to be cranked up between each shot
- automatic laser rifle that lights enemies on fire and has a scatterer attached, for dealing with crowds. basically a spray-and-pray weapon
- obligatory meme weapon of the laser blunderbuss, a laser musket with a short barrel and a scatterer attachment. not very good, but funny
- a normal laser rifle
the laser blunderbuss for anyone curious. i have since swapped out the stock for a full one and the reflex sight for a standard glow in the dark sight
also the igniting automatic laser shotgun thing i did in fact rename to "dragon's breath"
