my favorite little thing to do in dwarf fortress is to have my garbage dump go off a 5-layer cliff down into a little pool of magma. and then whenever there's corpses of things we don't need to worry about haunting the fortress, they get dumped in there

a dwarf's pet guinea pig dies? into the pit.
one of our tame giant cave spiders we feed goblins to dies? in the pit.
a goblin dies attacking the fort and we're still breeding new giant spiders? goes in the pit
oh yeah also the reason the pit is that specific depth is because when you toss something in magma, it produces magma mist that can travel up to 5 layers up. so it just avoids burning whoever's tossing garbage in there
