so, i think i've mentioned this previously, but one product of my setting's ancient dragons that persists to the galaxy's modern day is that most beings formed of magic take the shape of dragons
but this doesn't just extend to beings formed entirely through magic. beings that become more magic than physical tend to become more draconic as a result.
so for example, Erick, if he's got enough of the seals he keeps on his magic broken, starts taking on a dragon-like aspect, flowing with countless enchantments to keep himself stable
this is also part of why powerful mages in general tend to accumulate unusual items and artifacts as well. on some unconscious level they want a big hoard
