yknow you go out in the world and nobody ever mentions the leading cause of death that did not exist four years ago. covid beat out heart disease and cancer and there’s zero political interest in anything but “one vaccine every year that doesn’t keep you from getting it” somehow. thinking about how the white house does contact tracing + on-site rapid testing for all of its events so (as usual) the ruling class is totally isolated from a wave of death and disability sweeping the people they’re at least theoretically elected to represent

been feeling the same way and its absolutely miserable. u aren't alone
there is some hope for a nasal vax in the short term (in like the next couple of years?) that could prevent reinfection, but there should be a sea change in how we treat airborne infections, and there's just no political will to do anything about it.
i end up just confirming my mental illness to most people with the steps i feel i have to take to try keep from getting sick.
