Trees. They're actually useful and not just things that stand in the way of "Progress"! Whodathunk!
(everyone that isn't a short-sighted bastard out to make a buck)
tl;dr: trees don't only take in carbon dioxide (CO₂), they also take in methane (CH₄)
okay technically it's the microbial critters living on/in the trees
They are helping in trying to keep our thankless asses alive
Don’t get me started on trees. If you get me started on trees I will never stop. Just, if you want to know more look up these things:
- natural wind breakers
- coastal vegetation buffers
- soil bioremediation (phytoremediation specifically)
- restorative uses of poplar and willow trees
- effects of green space on mental health
- botanical sexism
- urban trees
There is even more but if I keep going I’ll forget to go eat. Anyway, go look at those and get mad with me. Trees are magic and the world should be filled with them.
Edit: changed soil to air in the title because I was worked up and hungry.
