I have written like tens of thousands of pages of stories about these characters and none of them are available or published anywhere, sorry! The rebellion is basically what it sounds like -- a group of people working together to overthrow a shithead king who has caused immense harm to both his own people and also all surrounding nations.
Right now, this list of character bios is probably the most "lore-heavy" thing I've made publicly available, but it focuses more on the characters than the world around them.
Hopefully I'll be able to get all these stories out in one form or another someday, but for now the best you can do is try and piece together the scraps

In fairness I'm not really a CSS/HTML understander either, I just kind of googled a bunch of stuff, copied someone else's code, and fiddled with it until it did what I wanted lol
Lol I remember one webcomic where the guy explicitly refuses to change anything about the website because he just copied the code from somewhere and doesn't understand it at all, so he's worried if the changes anything the entire website will break
This is why you don't equip things you don't know what they do. That said, I want to equip this now that I know what it does.
To be fair, she did try testing the earring first to see if it was magic before putting it on. Her mistake was assuming that it wasn't magic just because nothing obvious was happening right away (which is usually a safe assumption)

What a wonderful disaster to follow! I appreciate that you showed both Shen & Vae not being Complete Idiots and at least trying to figure out if what they'd found was a dangerous relic or not.
They both know their stuff! Especially in Shen's case -- handling and identifying magic artifacts is literally her whole job.
Sometimes, however, what seems like a totally mundane object can turn out to be a sneaky enchanted artifact with an extremely specific and conditional power that will go completely undetected by all of the easiest and most common methods of appraisal. In cases like this, the two most likely outcomes are "Someone figures it out the hard way by accident" or "Nobody ever even notices it's magic"
