Applications are being accepted from now until the 10th of January. Following a private audition round, six semi-finals will be held in February ahead of the grand final on Saturday, the 2nd of March. Eight "emerging" artists will progress from the semi-finals, joining eight "big" artists who will automatically qualify. Applicants must be aged 16 by the 1st of March 2024. There are no nationality restrictions, and the song can be in any language, although some knowledge of Italian would probably be helpful.

In the first edition of UVPSM, in 2022, the semi-finals featured 60 artists. In 2023, there were over 100. Both years have resulted in non-qualifications at Eurovision, with Piqued Jacks receiving the dreaded Nul Points this year. All this is to say that if you want to go to Eurovision, you've got a relatively decent chance at representing San Marino. (I would recommend prioritising literally any other country you're eligible for.)
