Some concepts for a thing I've been turning around in my head. If I actually make it, it'll be a novel, but I find it helpful to do some art as anchor points for myself. The big broad concept is "early Christian Ireland in space", with mechs made of wood and science-magic. So the pilot is wearing your classic sci-fi body suit, but with celtic motifs (I'd like to imply that they're some kind of circuitry, but getting there visually is difficult). Over that they're wearing a leine, which was a garment so quintessentially irish that the brits banned people from wearing it. Key details are the saffron colour and the billowing sleeves.

The mech, as mentioned, is made of wood. I had an idea ages ago to try and do a series of mechs based on historical fashion silhouettes, and so I brought that back for this one. This design echos the early edwardian era, at some point I'll go further back and figure out what a bustle mech looks like.

I've added both the b+w and colour versions, because I secretly prefer the b+w, but the point of this exercise is to think about colour, so...

Oh, and if you think it seems silly to have the pilot super visible in a glowing core, it probably is, but part of the concept is that these mechs were not meant to be used for fighting, at least initially.
