But that happened as a result of a 3 way conversation between brnine, figure and thisbe, during which they failed to talk about Ken a) being the viceroy, a key political figure who might have hugely valuable info, and b) connected to the iconoclasts, super dangerous beings who you wouldn't want Kesh to have. And those are things that both brnine and figure should know.

And like, they even do talk about the fact that thisbe just handing him over is naive, and there's a risk the bodyguard will keep attacking anyway, but then nothing happens. It really feels like there was an off mic conversation where they decided that they just didn't want the story to go into a big fight, and so they wrapped it up quickly so they could move on to other things, but it fell really flat for me as a result.

When the ark started I was actually shouting "this is what the b-plot move was made for!" at my desk and at some point I resigned to fact that actual play sometimes just does things for dramatic reasons and less because it's the most effective way to do from a pure rules perspective.

But yeah, I was also a bit befuddled of how things just ended.

That is such a good point too! And I really liked how the b plot played out in the last mission, it felt great switching narratively back and forth. They probably didn't do it here because thisbe and cori wanted to be in on the figure/devotion plots and they don't have b plot moves, though, so I am more understanding of that choice.

Yeah, there's also an argument to be made about not splitting the party up for a second time, and I get that.

I think this particular issue more comes down to me being more aware of how the game works (I've run it a few times and I'm currently in a campaign), and that just gets in the way of me just enjoying the story that's happening.
