I thought I had Driver-from-Drive brnine out of my system but then I thought about nightcall and I was like damn this is so brnine/gucci coded. Anyway I finished my first big piece for Serious!Project, so I'm allowed to indulge.
I think the thing that makes the driver brnine coded to me is the idea of someone whose life is enmeshed with terrible and ongoing violence, and who yearns for connection and tenderness that can only ever be at best a brief reprieve.
I was going to draw gucci with her classic pompadour but I couldn't find a ref I liked, and anyway I thought it would be nice to show gucci in a moment of true vulnerability, and as part of that to have her between hairstyles. Assuming the stellar combustor doesn't blow up she'll no doubt be back with something glamorous and perfect by the time brnine actually sees her again.
