I feel weirdly validated that the only Pokemon music to show up on the Space Funeral Dev's huge curated eclectic music playlist are all from the second gen.

Second gen pokemon music is like nothing else in the series I swear. It's like, the sequel went in a captivatingly melancholic direction that gen 3 decided not to continue. Kind of a shame because I feel like Pokemon is at it's best when it's got a tinge of wistful sadness to it for no particular reason.

i do feel this from having played my older brother's copy on his actual game boy of color as a wee kitten (i still have it around) but i have a hard time saying gen 3's music was actively Less Good

oh no the first version i could find online has that horrific reverb effect over it just like all the RBY uploads that for some godforsaken reason people insist is somehow authentic to how it sounded on the original hardware (sure it reverberated a little in the casing but god damn) this doesn't bode well
