Check your public library! If you have one, anyway. Many libraries in even relatively middling towns and cities will carry a library of physical games to lend out. Most libraries have a way for anyone with a library card to request they buy a copy of something.

(first few fields asking for my name and library card number cropped out.) screenshot of part of a Request to Buy form. The fields from top to bottom are Title: Metroid Prime Remastered, Author: Nintendo, Format drop-down box: Games, Game System drop-down box: Nintendo Switch. In the "other information" section a short message reads, "Is sold new for a lower MSRP than other Switch games." Below that it asks ""would you like us to try to borrow this title from another library if we are unable to purchase it?" No is selected. Below that, a purple Send Request button. Title, Format, GameSystem, and the final question are marked required.

They might take a few months to get around to buying it and it isn't guaranteed, but libraries like having a clue of what people actually want to check out. I'll sometimes put in a request for upcoming major releases so I can let them know about stuff that people are gonna want to play.

Another benefit is if they do buy a copy, many more people will get a chance to play it for free and spread word of mouth. In my experience, they'll carry any console's game so if it's an old game that isn't expensive used they might track it down on eBay. They do really like switch games though because of the durability of the cards.
