Damn, Kit in the IDW Sonic comics is really fucked up in a very specific way that I don't see too often. Like, normally when someone is depicted as the "I am a tool, not a person" thing it's more robotic, Kit is more just "Is very clearly a person who doesn't recognize their own personhood." Even in the best of times people don't quite know what they can do for him, seeing him briefly at Tails' place just unable to handle not existing to be a living tool is actually a little too real.
Starline fucked him up really bad. Serge as well obviously but at least she's driven by something. Kit just feels like he can't exist if someone isn't using him for something. Even when he smiles it seems more like he's trying to convince himself more than anything else.
