It's been a lovely time on this website.

i had a thought so i made this thing really quick... little button for real cohost users
coincidentally i now have a page on my website for this and the myvstrica one i made forever ago. maybe one day i will make more. here it is
Below is one of the two final posts I'll be posting here from my website. I had my Girlfriend read it and she broke out in tears by the end, saying "I knew you liked this site, but I had no clue how much it meant to you and so many others. It was like reading a eulogy for a good friend."Also, sorry for the alt text missing on some of the images - Cohost was having an issue with formatting with them , and it's too late for me to track it down. You can read this full post on my website with alt text if you want

Fuck guys. I loved this website so much. I loved seeing everything people posted, the community, how it was different. I really enjoyed Cohost, it's easily my favorite social media site I've ever been on. Because of Cohost, I was able to learn about Neocities and able to create my own website. Seeing what CSS crimes was up to made me curious enough to learn about CSS (though, I still know very little). I learned more about RSS Feeds and The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas. I know Cohost's future was never stable but... I don't know. I guess I hoped we had just a little bit longer.
I know it sounds kind of sad, but with the amount of screenshots I've included in that post it makes me feel a bit like I'm still browsing Cohost on my website
it would be cool if there was like an enormous opt-in OPML file with everybody's RSS feeds for their blogs, blueskies, mastodons, tumblrs, etc. I don't know how to do that though
If you have an RSS feed you want to share, please comment with it on this post, idealy with one or two high level topical tags you want to associate with it. I'll turn it into an OPML file which will accept pull requests on GitHub (I know, I know, don't @ me.)
OPML is a format for sharing RSS feeds for feed readers and other software, it grew out of the old school blogrolls.
The current OPML file is at https://raw.githubusercontent.com/emceeaich/cohost-disaspora/main/cohost.xml
And the project is at https://github.com/emceeaich/cohost-disaspora
Thank you!
