The world always changes
Campaign smashed on Red Walled Stones
Punctured with stolen arrows
Burned by boats.
The world always shifts
Loyalties switch without warning
Temples ambushed and razed
Lords die
The world will mutate.
A love shall turn towards hatred.
Poisoned by an outsider
When trust given
Still, the world grows
Kingdoms established after defeat
Nations unified in the wake of betrayal
And what of me?
An era ends for myself
Wiped away in a flash
Still many remain.
Yes I survive.
The heath is blasted
My home lost again
I sleep in a strange house
Ah, but I live.
I know who’s besides me now
What values I have truly
And how that shows in my love
That will be enough.
Because the best growth
Comes after the old disease
Is burned away.
Onward into New Year’s light.
Happy New Year. As I write this it is barely a half hour past midnight. I hope it finds you in good spirits.
Should you, like I, have much on your mind, I hope then this poem reminds you you're not alone.
It has been nothing short of a tumultuous year for me. A woeful breakup, a miserable defeat of sorts in the loss of a job, a break up of two of my partners that has stretched me thin.
And yet.
Everything seems to be on the repair. There is still that must be fixed and I will never deny that. But there is much good happening right now. And to that, I celebrate. Here's to you reader. May this bring you light in the darker times of your life.
On to other business.
I will be taking January a bit slow and definitely take a hiatus for at least a fortnight from poetry. I will however, also instead entertain you with other things I do, maybe some cooking, and readings of my old poetry.
Also, I plan to post my two award winning story "All the Time in the World" On my patreon this month, plus another story of mine that I have re-written. So I will not leave without anything. I may just take this time to do more long form writing.
Tell me what you think in the comments below.
Also again, if you want to see more of my poetry earlier, please check out my Patreon at the $3.00 tier.
