Millions of years from now, when humanity's long extinct, some organisms will evolve an ability to metabolise microplastics. I wonder how that revolution will affect further development of these species whatever they may be.

good news! there are already organisms that can digest plastic. waxworms and mealworms for example. pretty cool
God damn they're fast! Do you know if there was any research investing whether the population of these worms and the place they hold in the foodchain was affected by the abundance of microplastics in the environment?
