WRITER: Well, currently I'm working on-- well, I suppose I could call it fiction, but it's really more... a series of interconnected vignettes. Nay, observations. About the characters, of course, but also about... love, and death... and life itself. I had a great conversation with my editor yesterday, she called it a sort of pithing into the American ur-mind. Each chapter has a different protagonist, but they don't really, because-- well, that's the theme of the piece, you see, the similarities between us. It's quite difficult-- I have quite a chameleonic voice, because I take so much inspiration from everything around me, so it's difficult to nail it down to really present the theme of everything being the same. My natural instinct is to look at everything as a learning opportunity, from conversations with nearsighted publishers to the hustle and bustle of strangers. Sonder, I've heard it called. Yes, every time I look at it I grow dissatisfied as I attempt to hone it with my ever-growing knowledge of The Craft, notice an adverb to prune or a bit of dialogue that needs to drive more conflict. But that's the nature of writing-- all art, I suppose, because writing is merely a kind of art, "genre" or "literary", flash-fiction or modern epic, despite what naysayers on Twitter--

FRIEND: No, sorry, lemme rephrase that. What are you doing, as in why did you just run that stop sign
