It's kinda surreal that a definition that excludes Sappho of Lesbos ever caught on for lesbianism.
Not that etymology is everything, but I guess I'd kinda hope such a clear example of historical inclusion of bi women in lesbianism would be enough to shut down exclusionism. Although I suppose that only works if someone actually tells you, which is far from a given.
My usual argument when that discourse comes up that... well... wouldn't it be erasure and/or appropriation to be using a specific person's name to mark a group if that person wouldn't be allowed in? Ergo if they want a bi-exclusionary term they need to coin one themselves instead of using the name of someone they functionally disavow. Usually they balk at the idea coining their own term because they know folks wouldn't use it and would have a damn good reason for not using it. They want Gold Star without the reputation that Gold Star earned itself.
