Looking at it more, I would definitely not recommend Itaku if you're looking for other alternatives to Twitter:

  • It's unclear who runs it or what their financial state is like from a glance of their pages
  • They have zero rules against bigotry, but they do have one that says 'no politics' (https://itaku.ee/help/rules)

These aren't the kinds of people whose rules I want to be living under. If your idea of 'sensitive topics' is 'having ideologies and politics', you're a fucking baby!

Oof. I've been looking for insight on how the site is managed and wondering what I'm missing that so many artists are just jumping right on board. This definitely doesn't inspire any confidence.

A year or so back, I went onto their Discord before joining to try to gather some info on the platform. Pretty sure this rule was one of the big red flags that led me not to bothering then, and will continue to lead me to not bothering now — along with being told "we will not moderate transphobic slurs being used as tags." A little too many compounding negative marks for my taste.
