@FaeAlchemist asked:

Can I get a basic rundown of magic in your setting?
—🧡Echo

Oh, sure!
So, the basics is that mana (life energy) permeates and flows through everything natural. Stone, dirt, plants, animals, etc. All that energy is stored by living things and traded back to the natural flow in exchange for desired effects via spell circles (cast via staff, wand, ritual, etc.).
Mana is stored in the blood stream, and tends to pool where blood flows the most. The one exception to this is the tail. Mana typically is stored in the tail(s) of a creature/person first, then the rest of the body (often times resulting in long hair, large bits, etc).
This does have a massive negative effect if one loses a limb, however, as mana ends up flowing through as if the limb was still there, resulting in an overall loss of one's maximum mana capacity.
One's mana capacity is how much ''excess'' mana you can store (most people need a minimum of 10% of their max, and you feel the negative effects of a lack of mana starting around 25%). This excess mana is used to cast spell (be it actively or passively). You can increase this by interacting with magic and training your body. It's like working out!

The other major thing for Arcanis' magic are the Core Elements. There are ten of them. 5 mental, 5 physical, and all are key in spellcasting. (Image above.)
For the 5 Physical, you have Heat, Nature, Liquid, Force, Cold.
For the 5 Mental, you have Willpower, Charisma, Wisdom, Memory, and Intelligence.
Each of the Core Elementals are paired. For example: Force and Memory are the key elements in almost all spells, thus are paired together. Heat and Cold are the the ''Temperature'' elements, and are opposite, but work together to become greater. Just like Intelligence and Willpower.
Different combinations of the Core Elements create your Classical Elements. Fire, Lightning, etc. For example, a high amount of Heat and some Force creates Fire (and you can add Cold to better control the Heat and create a stronger Fire spell). But if you really, REALLY add a lot of Heat and Force into that spell you get Lightning.
(I will go over Absolute and Null later.)

The strongest spell type, however, is Force. Flat-out. Why? 'Cause that's what Telekinesis falls under. Which also lets me state that a mage's ability in spellcasting is based on levels that range from 1 to 100. For most elements, 75 is a person's upper limit. But Force is different, due to how it directly impacts everything. For example, a normal mage might reach level 25 in their Force magic skill. This is because anything more starts falling into the categories of more powerful Telekinesis. And the reason Telekinesis is so hard to use is because it actively pushes against someone's natural flow of mana, which ends up pushing back. It's said that one of the strongest Force mages is able to crush someone into a inch-thick block with a few gestures.

Now, this is all without getting into the different types of staves and casting styles (stones, blood, etc), so there's still a lot of context missing, but I hope this works for your question! If you have any more, I will gladly talk more about it!
