Another 'Chost, turned to a full article,' this one I think is important because in the revising this phrase became part of it:

Any opinion about their game must show due deference, even if it’s just recognising that it exists. An absence of praise is a presence of violence.

in reply to @TalenLee's post:

You can use Pokemon from a lower tier in this tier, but it generally works out badly, because those Pokemon are not strong enough for this tier.

this is not true. a pokemon being in a lower tier doesn't mean that it's not strong enough for ou, it means it doesn't get 4.52% usage in ou. looking at scl iii's usage stats (a tournament hosted around when this article was posted), we can see that 62 pokemon received a usage rate above .71%, your "cutoff rate" for vgc.

Anyone who played Smogon exclusively through all the years of Generation 8 is someone who has no idea what a core mechanic of that game does to the game based on their play experience.

do you.. think that they banned dynamax before playing with it? 241/291 people voted to ban it after playing with it and deciding they didn't like it.

  • 62 pokemon out of over a thousand seems to bear up my statement that it 'generally works out badly.'
  • I was operating on the assumption that a lot more than 241 people play smogon, but if you think that's the cohort, then sure

your article literally says "There are Pokemon who exist for, most likely, their place in a single-player RPG experience", before bringing up that 75 (not much more than 62) pokemon received a .71% usage rate or above in that vgc tournament. Also scarlet and violet only had 600 pokemon at the time.
i seriously doubt that there was an unspoken majority of players who were fine with dynamax and also didn't vote to keep it
