Buzzing in Englizh:

  • S ➡️ Z
  • SH ➡️ ZH
  • TH ➡️ TH (Englizh already uzez the zame letterz for theze two zoundz, zo it doesn't look different...)

Buzzing in Welzh:

  • S ➡️ Z? (Z iz not a Welzh letter, but mozt Welzh zpeakerz are Englizh zpeakerz zo it getz the point acrozz.)
  • SI/SH ➡️ ??? (Welzh orthography iz already fucked here.1)
  • Th ➡️ Dd

  1. We keep almost writing about thiz, but our number one Welzh zpelling reform idea iz introduze a new letter "Sh" to make thiz noize. It would ztandardize the zpellingz, and putting it in the alphabet feelz appropriate—bezidez, if Ff and Ph can coexizt then there's bazically no letter too nizhe.

in reply to @FaeAlchemist's post:

yeah agree with SH. we've already added J to the alphabet (despite the fact that some people seem really against it?? the J sound has existed in welsh since like the 1800s i believe so adding it as an actual letter seems fine and normal. although i have seen an older dictionary write the J sound as DZ which is fascinating). i think that SI generally works fine for the beginning/middle of words and SH for the end. i think the few Z sounds that exist in welsh are usually just written with an S (sŵ, etc).
