I feel like this site is designed to prevent people from having conversations which kinda sucks to be honest
No yeah, I feel you. I've kinda come to realise Cohost is more of a blogpost-y site rather than a chatter-y website, which is fine if that's the design philosophy. I don't mind being on a website that's more centered around posting stuff, but it's not gonna be able to fulfill that niche of social networking and chatting with friends and making new friends for me, especially since it's confirmed that DMs are not gonna be added at all anywhere in the near future.
It is a shame because I think a lot of people who come here from other websites do -really- want and have a need for a website where finding people and starting up convos and making friends is a possibility, but I don't think cohost has the features to facilitate that. Not yet at least!
It's at least because of that that I can't move all the way to Cohost without being active another social media site that more aptly fulfills the need to easily be able to chat with other folks. Sadly, that website to me is still twitter lol.
Even if DMs are off the table, I think Cohost needs some way of at least privately sharing contact info. If I wanted to give someone my Discord info, the best solution I've come up with is them noting me on FurAffinity, and leaving a comment on a Cohost post so I know to check my FA notes. I guess the other option would be a private cohost page that literally just has that info on it? But then I'd still need to remember to swap to that page to see the follow request notifications.
Also, it kinda feels like bridging to the point I want to send someone my Discord info is a difficult thing here? I mean personally, twitter never fulfilled being a talky site for me either. I struggled to even retweet things from a combination of background vitriol and feeling weird about posting kink stuff.
EDIT: Found a suggestion on the support portal for a possible solution to contact sharing.
