Please talk to me about TTRPGs
She's even the weakest subclass (Trickery) and she's STILL good!
Clerics have so many powerful offensive, defensive, and utility spells at every level! You get FREE SPELLS when you level up! Clerics have access to more spells than WIZARDS!
And Wisdom is an insanely good stat to have high because perception determines what you are able to experience in exploration!
The answer is twofold
Except Clerics in D&D aren't healers! They're combat MACHINES! Even at level 1 you get access to Guiding Bolt and Inflict Wounds, two of the most powerful single-target level 1 spells! And Spirit Guardians auto-wins some encounters!
Unsure where this "clerics are healers" notion came from, but it's probably the biggest trap in the entire game now.
Every time I run a game with someone new, I have to warn them about how objectively terrible "being a healer" is in D&D (not a complaint) and explain that clerics are just magical fighters...
It comes from MMOs!
Shit, even in 4e, which was the "too close to WOW edition" clerics were still on their A-game when buffing and damaging!
Don't mind me, just playing a Tempest Cleric doing MAXIMUM DAMAGE with Call Lightning and Shatter!
My level 1 halfing cleric with 16 strength agrees, he may be small but he is mighty!
