the other day i noticed my pen nib was so worn down that it kept making really loud scratching noises and getting slightly caught sometimes while i was drawing. i haven't replaced the nib in probably 5 years and i use my tablet for both drawing and general browsing in place of a mouse--in other words, i use this thing all day every day. every game i've ever made was drawn with this thing.

the last time i replaced the nib, it was because a friend had extras and was appalled that i hadn't replaced mine in probably another 5 years at that time. if i had extra nibs of my own, they were either lost or used up, and i just couldn't be bothered to buy new ones before because it was never an issue. i literally forgot that you're even supposed to change them. i draw for a living.

sorry for all the exposition, but you have to understand. this tablet is like 14 years old, it was given to me as a gift in 2010, possibly 2009. i don't think it was ever meant to last this long, and i had planned to just continue using it until it fully broke. so i was looking for replacement nibs and found a set of 10 for $10..... but my wife was like "wtf why don't you just get a new tablet." she's right.

so i bought a new tablet! same size, new brand. why pay $10 for a piece of plastic when i can pay $100 for a brand new tablet that i can make last another 10+ years.

but here's the thing

the new tablet, of course, came with replacement nibs

they happen to fit my old tablet pen

so what if i... just keep using my old one..................

NO NO NO i'm going to be good, i will let it rest in peace...... i just had to make a post commemorating this, because this tablet has taken me so far. gotta pay my respects. thanks again to the person who bought it for me back in the day (idk if u still follow) i'm forever grateful. looking forward to drawing 10 million more things on the new one.

I hope it feels better to draw on! I have never upgraded my tablet, just like you were doing, and I'm not sure if I should ever. I've also had mine for about 15 years or so at this point.

Omg.. id have some trouble putting it away too heh

I still use my first arcade stick from 2010 for fighting games.. had to replace parts but yea.. 98% of all my fg scene memories were with it..
