there is something magnetic about neurodivergence. like not to say i think it's always visible, but i can usually detect when i've met someone i can unmask around. and this was even more true when i was in middle school and my mask was just beginning to develop. when i was first cognizant that there was something different about me, and trying to act more like the people around me felt like trying to learn a whole new language. when being around someone whose brain worked like mine felt like reaching an oasis in a desert.
