Makai Hakkenden Shada is Data East's piss poor attempt at getting an Ys knock off onto the PC Engine before the actual port of Ys came out. It's the kind of game that pulls shit like having a guy who will just fucking instakill you if you aren't a high enough level when you talk to him. It has the Hydlide style pseudo save and load functions, but they don't quite work right. If you get poisoned, then try to just load your last save, you will find your character still poisoned, now probably even farther away from anywhere you can cure poison. It's grindy, it's rushed, it's one of the more notable pieces of PC Engine kusoge.
