Can you believe this popular, well regarded game that got like 40 sequels is actually pretty good?

Tonight, I finally finished all 50 levels of the Famicom version of Lode Runner. I decided to give it a shot because I recently started watching RndStranger's Famidaily series, and I decided to poke at some of those older Famicom games I never got around to on my Steam Deck when I was waiting for my tire to be fixed. For anyone else reading this who had seen some footage of the game, though "that looks fine," but didn't think it looked particularly compelling, you need to actually play this. Despite some annoyances like having to go way too far to get the screen to scroll and not being able to see all the enemies at once like on other versions, this was easily the best game on the Famicom when it came out and would remain so until Super Mario Bros. It was a hit for a reason. I highly recommend playing some version of Lode Runner if you haven't.

If you ever get around to them, the presage Lode Runners are both very good. And I also recommend lode runner on the wonderswan which I completed recently. I have come to love these games so much.
