So I've been getting into sword world, Very interesting system, unique world, pretty distinct stuff going on.
My only singular problem with it is that THIS is what race selection looks like in 2.5.
20 somehting races! and only 3 of thhem (4 if you count the spriggins giant form) are imimedatly visually distinct from being human. Sure some of them have horns and feathers on their head (The Weaklings, the name makes sense in context) som have animal ears (Lycants and Leprecauns) but its all still very human in the same way an elf's elf ears doesn't stop it from being visually human.
I'm not one of those "Humans Suck and are boring" furries, but like if you give rpg players over 20 races they should probably be more distinct than this. A player trying to play something distinctly not human has only like 3 options and that seems really silly given the total number.
Now don't get me wrong. Each of these do have their own lore and place in the world that makes them all interesting role playing options regardless and that's good. The way character creation works also means each one of these is a significantly different stat load out. Its just on a surface level your choice is 18 flavors of human.
Mostly because it had options to play as Barbarous races (basically monsters in the D&D sense). Good news is that 2.0 stuff is pretty compatible with 2.5, so as long as you and the GM are cool about the lore and role playing implications of being one of these, it should work fine.
