Do you like mechs, anime (mostly) directed by Mamoru Oshii, and stories with characters who inevitably have to navigate bureaucratic red tape in order to get the job done?

Mobile Police Patlabor: "The Early Days" 7-episode OVA series, then movies 1, 3, and 2 in that order. You get four episodes of lighthearted stories to get to know the characters, and then they are all thrown into the deep end.

Also, the OP is just protagonist Noa professing how much she loves her mech. It's good.

If you want more, Patlabor: The TV Series + "The New Files" 16-episode OVA series is a soft reboot of the timeline, featuring all the same characters (and actors!). I'd argue the TV format leaves more room for fluff and is not quite as tight, but it delivers in giving you far more time with the world and its characters.

If you can get your hands on the official Bluray collection, it's a complete package and a solid way to experience the series. Otherwise, look towards torrents. 🙇
