Filly

hi! i'm filly!

trans-femme moist fur-beast.
i like drawing creatures! looking at them is fun too!

palworld is weird.

i havent been following any sort of discourse regarding it. it just feels like. icky? and its not just cause i dont like "open world survival game," as a genre its just like. i dunno like, like it feels like someone saw some old "pokemon but EDGY" parodies and a like. handful of peta pokemon parodies and decided "what if i made a game out of both of those but it's actually really epic to do the pokemon sweatshops and fightclubs. shoot them with guns."

it feels wild that it has an audience to me. its like. passe i guess.

in reply to @Filly's post:

it's only interesting because it's transgressive yeah, this game would have no traction without being in a broader conversation with Pokemon itself

what kinda shocks me more than the content is the apparent quality of it. like, yeah, we made open world Pokemon, also it's a survival/factory sim, and the graphics are pretty good and it's actually multiplayer and we managed to do all this on the budget allowed by "we're making a really clear parody of an established and beloved IP as a commercial product, so invest only if you believe we won't get smacked with a cease and desist"

what the heck is going on at Game Freak tbh

game freak is uh. certainly something. i guess its just coasting by on just pokemon's huge name. i dunno i havent bought a pokemon game in a while either. i just feel like there are better more earnest projects i could follow for "pokemon game not made by gamefreak" but.
it definitely does have shock appeal i guess. its just such an old flavor of shock appeal!
