i always feel weird making the connection since i havent read it or... any novel i guess in a really long time but i like thinking about a wrinkle in time in relation to earthbound.

stories about psychic kids engaging in a conflict with a cosmic evil using their love as their primary "weapon" when it turns out the strange unfathomably powerful Thing isnt vulnerable to anything else. i dunno. i like them lots. the kids meet other species and survive with them because despite being odd or different, they're just nice and loving. idk. camazotz, happy happy, fourside, idk. tazmily in mother 3 technically. locale where people are twisted and forced to comply with the big boss will.

idk, they teleport with psychic power too. i like linking these two things in my head.

watching episodes of mlp with my girlfriend while she's in town. the pony of shadows episode makes the final season even more fucked up/tonally dissonant than it did on its own without context.

like yeah yeah ive read the discourse like. ad infinitum about the legion of doom. chrysalis is selfish and scared of/resistant to accepting reformation. tirek loves being strong. cozy glow is cozy glow.

but liiiiiiike also this episode is like... "hey remember the forgiveness/redemption thing? its still important when your idols say otherwise." like OKAY yes i know. Stygian was a good pony at heart still and but also the episode is also like. about. forgiving still isnt it? i dunno. listen, i just feel like there was some implication by the show that starswirl's technique of just banishing problems to the eqg verse or banishing things to limbo at the expense of the elements/tree of harmony when there might be some sort of other solution feels at odds with the final season's ending of "we'll just petrify them and call it done even though they've displayed some level of comraderie/spark of friendship."

i dunno, my girlfriend said something along the lines of "it feels like the writing staff might have changed between the episodes." i 'unno! i think they should have redeemed everyone even though folks were making the "wtf why does the show about friendship always redeem problem cases," complaint. it feels dissonant.

limbo as a prison concept very much feels like something that could have been looked at in contrast with the villains imprisonment in tartarus before the last season. i dunno! theres some text there i feel could have been massaged and written into a more coherent episode. like (twilight sparkle voice) "sending tirek to tartarus and imprisoning discord in stone was just like what happened with the stygian! we cant just keep repeating the past's mistakes!"

i dont think i get divinity original sin 2. like i can definitely feel the "yeah, these are the people who did baldurs gate 3 alright" energy but mostly in like. the tonal like dark weirdnesses and ambush/swarm encounters that makes up like. every encounter.

i dont like the like... combat... i dont like the way armor and magic armor interact with debuffs. (generally arent procced until armor is entirely stripped.) i dont like skills and memory as a stat, i dont like how you have to spend points to get pet pal, (...speak with animals was a tax for me in bg3 too.) and like. i dunno. the cooldowns hurt. source points being this... thing you find in puddles on the floor or drain a pip at a time... i dunno.

i made it out of fort joy a second time. first time was a coop run that blew up. this second one is... a solo run where im trying my best to do stuff to the game to make myself like it more (i even gave myself infinite source points...) but its just like. the game just doesnt seem like something i get. it has elemental resistances and enemies who always know to bypass yours. hope you put points into the skill that lets you read the pokedex so you can do the same! hey, did you know those zombie looking fuckers arent undead? the meat golem? not undead. but dallis, the chick who turns into a dragon and flies away if you beat her up on the boat fight? yeah. she is undead. i dont know dude i just want my cool polymorphing lizard chick to become god and helps people or something.

hey, by the way fuck telekinesis + box. I still loathe that that's in the game
