A thing that has over time made me not want to be in a lot of industry spaces is that frankly this kind of racist brainwormed thinking (and lots of different flavors of racism and xenophobia towards people from the global south) is way too widespread, and way too many industry people afford executive-level men way too much respect.

personally I think roblox' entire c-suite are vile fucking monsters, but that's kind of what happens when bog standard games industry exec thinking encounters an audience of largely children

it is also perhaps not great – some might say it's fucking appalling – of Eurogamer to mouthpiece for this guy without presenting any counterpoint to his claims, but then again his words are pretty damning in isolation.

only semi-related rant: a really alarming number of people in the games industry seem to think that being a c-suite guy at one of these major publishers or engine companies is worthy of respect rather than scorn, and it somewhat alienates me from some of my peers. it's shocking how many industry people have a positive view of, eg, tim sweeney.

this is a possibly-spicy take but I genuinely feel like being long-time successful leadership at large companies self-selects for those who are deferential to authority and are good at finding ways to justify to themselves how said authority behaves
