There's only one cat, though it changes its coat of fur every ten, twenty years or so. Most of the cats we perceive are the One Cat travelling forward through time. Sometimes you'll catch a glimpse of a cat-like blur – in a bedroom, on the street at night, etc – zooming faster than the eye can see. That's the One Cat traveling backwards through time, during which time it is known as the Anticat.
