sometimes a band doesn't have any original songs in an album but they cover then so well that they really stand out. The Helpful Soul is one of those, just a really solid album of rock and blues rock covers that's remarkable. I'm sharing the Hendrix one cause I was just listening to that one. The Helpful Soul didn't last more than a year with that name and this was their only album, but if they had I feel like with musicians this good they could've gone somewhere. The landscape of bands in late 60s Japan is truly a land of contrasts. The Helpful Soul wasn't a band that wanted to make rock in japanese but they really stand out from any group sounds bands due to their gritty, psyched up blues rock.
