I like this guy's style and presentation. It's got the hallmarks of japanese video editing and hey those work super well whether you're butchering fish or talking about rock music.
I really enjoy thinking about like.. the development of Rock music in Japan, just an absolutely fascinating topic to me personally. He had to talk about the Japanese Rock debate and interestingly mentions The Spiders (ザ・スパイダース) which I had heard of before but never delved into their discography, I have an issue where Group Sounds bands kind of blend together unless they do something really distinct in how they cover western hits. The Beavers stand out to me because of how they covered The Stones (seriously listen to this), the Dynamites stand out to me because they're really solid and high energy, but like the Golden Cups I couldn't really get into for whatever reason.
I feel like Happy End marked japanese rock growing the fuck up and the medium as a whole got elevated due to those guys, it showd bands didn't need to cover Big Brother or The Stones, they could do their own awesome thing in japanese and take advantage of how that language flows and sounds, I think that's just super neat.
