every time I have to hear that stupid history channel show where they auction off and bet on storage units I'm reminded of a post I'll probably never find again, now I'm not even sure who made it, but anyways it essentially said "everything you see has to have a price and value, it doesn't matter what those items meant to someone once, emotional value isn't considered only profits" and that feeling sums it up well for me. What a dogshit show on a dogshit channel.

in reply to @Foxtrot68's post:

i don't watch that show but aren't the storage units unclaimed / abandoned? in this case wouldn't the items actually have no emotional value, if the owner(s) didn't want to claim those back?

I don't think so? I'm not sure how that all works but to me it feels like the people couldn't pay storage fees and just lost the right to their stuff. If they were abandoned, they belonged to people once, so my point stands that the objects like game consoles, cards, jewelry, those meant something to someone and they're all just sold off by those people participating in the show.

oh, then yeah it makes more sense here, thank you.

but yeah i don't think it's all negative either! i know that some containers are actually abandoned because it's just "cheaper" to let go of old junk rather than actually spend effort cleaning everything up, especially when moving to a new city/state/whatever

this doesn't make it a good show though
