y'know how people are fucking done with marvel and marvel related things? like they've got marvel fatigue. I'm like that with pokemon and I wonder why pokemon fatigue isn't more widespread, pokemon has been around since the 90s, they keep pumping out games (at too fast a rate, jesus the bugs on the latest one really highlight the crunch), there'll always be new generations, tons of new pokemon and people keep buying them and drawing the new designs months ahead of the game's release, then months after too. I guess people making pokemon OCs are less likely to get "sick" of pokemon because they've transformed the big popular IP into something personal, but still... I'm struggling to like even the personal explorations of these designs, all I see are designs made to be made and sold as merch, I want to separate the designs from the massive media conglomerate that dominates popular culture but it's really hard to do that.

I joked before that my toxic trait is I don't like pokemon anymore and that feels true in some way... I feel like I'm the only person online who's just tired of all things pokemon, and I'm not ever going to go back to liking it because it's completely inescapable on a daily basis. Also I don't want to insult people who kin pokemon because that's their identity... what does it mean for your identity to be copyrighted by nintendo. I get existential thinking about these things, I don't want to shit on people's identities but saying "I'm sick of pokemon" is kind of doing that even if I don't mean it to be like that, just argh

TBH while I like pokemon, I attribute that a lot to missing half the generations due to just not having a DS or 3DS for a long while.

I've joked about my toxic trait being that I think D&D 5e is a flaming pile, and a lot of people are experiencing that "What does it mean when your identity is copyrighted" thing with Wizards of the Coast.

Not sure what my point is other than to say "Mood, but in a different direction".

I had a 3DS and the last one I played was the X&Y generation, whatever that was. I think besides the 4th gen games you weren't missing out on much. I played both the black and white games and I couldn't tell you a single thing about them.

I know nothing about D&D but looking at the state of the company, I can believe that very easily. I think this is a little different than kinning though because this is taking criticisms of a brand personally, the kinning is identifying with a design so strongly that's you, y'know? Which is "taking in the brand as your identity" but in a very different way.

Yeah, definitely. I know a few pokesonas but they're very.... free with it? Like Nintendo matters less to them than the funny little imaginary animal they made into an anthro. At least anecdotally I know four pokesonas who've never played a pokemon game and just looked at Vaporeon and decided it was a "soggy kobold".

D&D 5e fandom borders on cultish and I had one guy try to put me under gaes to never even think about another TTRPG LOL

oh yeah the imaginary animals are what matters the most, nobody cares about who owns the designs really, but they (the designs) are a part of this big thing and I really can't separate that very easily. It's not them anthrofying the designs that bothers me, it's that their personal expression and identity ends up being an extension of the media IP, inevitably.

lmao D&D players really can't bring themselves to learn and respect other TTRPGs, that's absurd...

This is gonna sound a little (maybe a lot) nut bars, but I'm a practicing celtic pagan agnostic and this rat bastard trying to put me under geas was insulting LOL

And yeah, I getcha, TBH that extends into a lot of shit when it comes to the world of Vtubing. My avatar/fursona is an original design loosely inspired by a genre I like, but a lot of peoples are just "This is inspired by my blorbo from (property)" or in the case of a few who have been exceedingly shitty to me that I won't name and shame because they're going through some shit right now, Just Their D&D Character.
