Hitman 3 or World of Assassination as it's got rebranded to now, is a fun game. I spent over a hundred hours on it, easy, but if there's one aspect of this game that's inexcusable bullshit is the elusive targets and the elusive target arcade. An arcade level is actually three to five separate elusive target missions, where in the actual missions you have a limited window to play them (they're activated at random and last a few days iirc), you don't know where the guys are immediately on the map and you only get one try (or infinite tries until you do the deed, then you're locked into that run). So the arcade tries to simulate what it's like playing them live (which I don't because I like to choose when I play my games, not the other way around), and you get infinite tries until you complete an objective which locks you in. If you fail a real elusive it's gone until they activate it again (which could be never), and if you fail an arcade level, you lose all your progress and you're forced to wait for 12 hours to try again. half a day. that's not acceptable punishment for losing a level! that's horseshit. their argument is it increases the tension if you know there's this hefty penalty for losing but I say it really doesn't, I don't think about what happens once I lose while I'm playing, I'm thinking about the game and how to handle it, when I do end up losing it's just deeply frustrating to have the game give me the middle finger and say "lol try again later sucker". This is weaponizing manipulative F2P tactics like timers for absolutely no good reason, it's just wasting your time, in a singleplayer game, that's always online (also for no good reason).
Guess I'll try again tomorrow. Fucking timers.
