and it made the beatles look like creepy fucking wax figures. I still think about how smooth everyone looks, I don't know how can anyone look at this and think "oh yeah nothing wrong with this image". It feels so off to me, like I'm staring into the uncanny valley of film making. They don't look real with everything being so blurred and smoothed like this. What could've been a fantastic documentary I would've loved to have watched is something off-putting to me because they couldn't do the proper job of transferring the film the right way. I know next to nothing about how this process all works but I know that Star Trek TNG looks really, really good to this day because it was shot on film. When rereleasing the show in HD they did a really good job with remastering all the footage, no magic AI upscaling needed, which meant none of this shit.
