I guess it's on me for playing in the recent beta branch of starfield but. how the hell did I stumble into a bug where all of my crew disappeared, the game says they're on the ship when they're not, after a reboot one of them was said to be in a Holding Cell for the Main Quest, and swapping home ships or making modifications to them doesn't fix the issue and somehow the front door of my ship is now inaccessible so I have to sit down on the cockpit and hold the exit ship button, I can't exit out the door because..... sigh this game really wasn't ready. I was still enjoying it but bugs like these are discouraging. I'd rather not be troubleshooting my game, I'd rather be playing it and the new beta did improve my framerates a lot but now this. I guess the game's forcing me into a loner playstyle with no crew until they somehow magically reappear? genuinely no clue, at a loss for what went wrong, all I know is several things went wrong at the same time.

This is a certified Code Spaghetti™ moment, right? I don't like being that person who shits on Bethesda for being bad at making games but seeing modders who understand the inner workings of the thing bring this up as an issue on the official discord bug reporting channels makes me confident this is a fuck-up on a scale that's just.. hilarious to think about. Their given "solution" was to just NG+ to fix it, which yeah it's kind of like saying "just reset your game and lose your progress so it starts working again". And like they said, it's just gonna happen again over time.

I can't believe this is a thing that's happening to essentially everyone on every platform without them ever knowing it. This could explain my constant crashing back when I was in NG+1. I played for too long and the game wasn't designed for that despite it being... designed so you can explore to your heart's content. I just did NG+2 so my ~321 hours save has just been reset but wow. The game doesn't recycle IDs for stuff so it just sort of runs out eventually and chokes on itself. I feel a bug like this could even be reported on by games journalists for being so funny but then Starfield "flopped" by AAA games standards so I have no idea if this is a widely known thing or not and the general public probably doesn't care. I care about this messy game, would be nice if they could fix this one sooner rather than later so people who are actually putting in the time and trying to enjoy the game don't get screwed over and have their hundreds of hours go to waste because a save gets corrupted. incredible stuff.

this stream highlights video is incredible, I've never seen Starfield this broken, the airlock bugs and stuff not loading in correctly yes they're still in current patch but the guns completely breaking down and the solution is to get gender reassignment surgery and transition??????? whAT. this is hilarious, when the ship breaks down in his stream he goes "what does the ship have to become trans too?" and he paints it the trans flag colors, just really good stuff.

I have spent a few minutes trying to let a bug out of my bathroom. it kept crawling on the frosted glass and just could not figure it out until I opened the window fully, it must've felt the wind. I stared at my cat staring at the bug to make sure she wasn't getting any ideas since there's no protective nets on that swing out square window and the bug flew out and I recoiled cause I'm afraid of bugs fully knowing how irrational that fear is, but it got out! that's my good deed done for bugkind today.
