begging all gamedevs to hide eggbug in your games, put them somewhere cool. Eggbug could be the dopefish of modern times

literally been since saturday-ish doing the brackeys game jam 2024.2 gamejam and just learned about this 30 min ago. might as well do it, since it fits the theme. gonna link to it here (it ends this weekend anyways, so it'll be here before cohost... uh, yeah.)

comment what dialogue should I put on it. position will not be there, but in random places depending on the storyline.

game context

theme: peace before the storm.

the game chooses one of these storylines at random:

  • my peace was enjoying myself, and then the storm came when I entered my home and realised what happened.
  • my peace was lost the day before, and I am slowly realising the storm that's brewing
i caused the storm to come and destroy the peace
  • my peace was interrupted by a sudden event, while preparing something for someone that will never come
  • never knew or never could know what happened, or if I even know if I'm in the storm

you start at some place in the house, and you walk through it, interacting with objects, and the environment slowly changes until you're in the storm.

looks like a PSX with raytracing on. coming from me, shocking, i know.
it's 50% done. need to finish some assets, music and then dialogue. code is pretty much all done. was gonna do a follow-up and release the framework i built around godot to make the C# version way, waaaaaaaaay less bad, but maybe it won't be done before the read-only date :(

🦊player character has had a computer in the game for ages that we were gonna do something with but canceled what we were gonna do with it. Now we're just gonna make it have dialogue when you check it about going on cohost
