okay near as I can tell after some googling, the core idea of this method is to let the prospect talk themselves into the sale
so e.g. "stay behind the pendulum" seems something like "talk as if you're less convinced that the prospect wants what you're selling than they are", because if you're like "oh I'm not sure this is the right product for you" they'll do free work to explain to you why it actually is
